Nightly Indian Dances in summer months, 7 pm, Train Station, Highway 66 downtown - watch, take pictures, join the dancing Monthly Arts Tour featuring opening receptions at many downtown galleries and venues. First Saturday, 7 pm. Gallup Inter Tribal Indian Ceremonial presents a monthly Rug auction featuring Navajo rugs. | You can catch Rusty Strings & the Flat Tones at these locations: 1. We play Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 1:00-3:00 pm @ Gurley Hall commons, as part of "Lobo Days" at the UNM-Gallup branch. Stephen Thompson will play a solo show from 5:00-6:00 Wednesday, and Pat Neff is booked solo on Thursday from 5:00-6:00. Other members of the band will probably join them. FREE! 2. Albuquerque Folk Festival is this Saturday, June 17th, at the State Fairgrounds. At eight or ten stages and tents, you can participate in everything from dance lessons to music workshops, listen to storytellers and every imaginable genre of New Mexico music. Pat Neff gives a beginning guitar workshop at 11:00; Rusty Strings & the Flat Tones do a folk blues workshop at 1:00 and host the "Jam with the Band" tent at 5:00. Entry fee and parking fee, but a bargain for what you may see, hear, & do. 3. Pat Neff and Jim Sayers play with Kelly Mortenson's Hillbilly Mojo Band at the Lion's Club Rodeo at Red Rock State Park this weekend, June 17-18. Details available on local radio and the Gallup Independent. 4. Weekly Old-fashioned Hootenanny as usual this Thursday night from 7:00-closing at the Coffee House in downtown Gallup. For Cara and I, this will be the last hoot until July as we go wandering cross-country--Pat & Toni & Stephen & Mike & Boomer & Pete & whomever will keep playing all summer. All local acoustic musicians & singers are invited to participate every Thursday night. FREE!
